Eastern Sierra wildflower trip

So a few weeks ago I ventured out to Lone Pine, Ca. in search of wildflowers - which were supposed to be peaking in that area.  I hit the road for 3 days with just my camera.  Here's the results:

Division Creek Rd had a lot of blooming flowers.  I don't know what these pink ones are though.

The Lupine's were blooming like crazy up that road.

Division Creek is a little runoff from the Eastern Sierras just North of Independence, Ca.

It was a very windy afternoon.

The infamous Mobius Arch, situated in Alabama Hills, predawn.  That spire in the middle is Mount Whitney - the highest point in the lower 48 (14,497 feet).

Here is the moon through the arch.

Snow capped Lone Pine Peak through Mobius Arch.  You might recognize that peak from Iron Man when Tony Stark is giving his missle demonstration - he blows up the hills sides in the foreground.

I took a midday excursion up to Whitney Portal and wasted a little time there.

A couple of Stellar Jays kept me company.

Found these guys in a pasture in Lone Pine.

If you've never heard of the Alabama Hills it's nowhere near Alabama.  It's basically a large field of interesting looking boulder formations at the foot of the Eastern Sierras.  A ton of movies have been filmed there including numerous John Wayne films, The Lone Ranger series, Iron Man, Tremors, Star Trek Generations, Gladiator and Maverick.

Lathe Arch, another arch in Alabama Hills.

And of course I had to brave the cold wind and get a few night shots.

Jill and Jessica

Jill and her daughter Jessica (and their dog) won a portrait session at Sangha in a silent auction.  We shot at their very picturesque house.  Here's a few of the highlights.

I had to start off with the dog!  Who can say no to this face?!

I love this one.  He looks so bored lol.

For the record he was not barking at me.
