Best of 2012 (Year in Review)

As we wrap up 2012 I hope your year was as exciting as mine.  If it wasn't what are you doing to make 2013 better?  That's the question I'm asking myself.

In 2012 I did a little breaking out of my comfort zone.  I traveled the most miles ever, finding myself on a long flight to South Africa for a safari - a bucket list trip for sure.  Words will never do that trip justice.

I also did my annual Sierra backpacking trip in July where the back country is always gorgeous.  This year I traversed Desolation Wilderness.  I never come back from those trips the same.

If life gets bigger and better I can't wait to see what next year holds.

Here's some of my favorites from 2012.  Enjoy!

I want to thank everyone who supports me.  My passion wouldn't be as much of a passion without fans of my work.  I am so grateful to all of you who like and share my work on Facebook, visit my blog and website, and most importantly book me and purchase my work (maybe the highest compliment)!

I want to thank my wife specifically for supporting me and my work.  A photographer generally behaves differently on trips than everyone else.  They scope out their spots early and then sit around waiting for good light - that can get a bit tedious, especially in inclement weather.  Some of these excursions also require a lot of hiking to get to.

A lot of work goes into capturing images like these and I don't do it alone.  So thank you everyone who is a part of my life - you all have a small part that you play in this whether you know it or not.

May I challenge you with this?  What impact will you leave on someone in 2013?  Will you make self care first?  Will you find something to be grateful for everyday?  Will you get out of your comfort zone?  Will you find your passion and live from that place?  Will you be open, kind and compassionate?  In remembering that your thoughts and actions affect others imagine the impact you could make by embodying this in your affairs.  Are you with me?  We can blow the roof off of 2013.  Stay tuned...

Happy New Year!
