WPPI 2010

I just got back yesterday from Las Vegas (woo hoo) and the WPPI convention.  It was my first year there and let me tell you what an incredible experience it was.

First off for those of you who don't know what it is it's a convention for wedding and portrait photographers.  They have all the big names in the field there hosting classes and a huge trade show and a million other photographers thirsty for knowledge (ok maybe not a million but a lot!).

There are some incredible people (who happen to be photographers) that me and my wife got to see speak -  Kevin Kubota, Jasmine Star, Marcus Bell, Joe Buissink and others.  I was truly inspired and learned a lot, all because they decided to pay it forward.  I got to hang out with my mentor Tara Sieling .  I bought more gear than my wife wanted me too.  And I got to meet a bunch of other photographers.  It was a great experience.

Wedding venue and planner

If you are in need of a venue go check out The Sepulveda Home, a 1929 French Colonial house, which is in San Pedro overlooking the Port of L.A....really a cool place.  I've shot lots of wedding there.

Family wedding

Well it was my cousin-in-law's (I guess that's what she'd be) wedding last weekend and they went with another photographer, who is extremely talented (www.tarasieling.com) - who also shot my wedding.  They said they didn't pick me because they wanted me to enjoy myself for once instead of being behind the camera.  But that's what I enjoy doing so I had to sneak in a few shots anyways!

I sat through the ceremony but then had to go grab my camera

 

You know it's love when you don't have to tell them what to do ;o)

 

 The reception was awesome.  They went with the winter theme.

 

 

 

And the first dance got everyone a little choked up.

 

I loved the lighting - it was like the rising sun over them - I had to include it some how.

 

 

 

And don't forget dad trying not to cry - that got everyone going...
